- About Me
Oby Nwankwo is the founder and Executive Director of the Civil Resource Development and Documentation Centre (CIRDDOC) Nigeria, an independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation committed to the promotion of human rights, women's human rights, good governance, gender equality, and access to justice through the strengthening of civil society.
She is a lawyer of 27 years' post call and holds a Masters Degree in Law. She is a gender and governance expert, a human rights activist and advocate, an anti-corruption crusader, an independent legal consultant and trainer/facilitator. She holds an M&E certificate of USAID and has been involved in mapping, monitoring and evaluation of projects. She consults for the United Nations, CIDA, DFID, African Development Bank (AFDB) etc. Until her voluntary retirement in 2004, Mrs. Nwankwo was a Chief Magistrate in the Anambra state judiciary in which she served for 23 years.
She serves in the board of several organisations: Advisory Board of Global Fund for Women, San Francisco; Board of Trustees Nigeria Book Foundation; Member Steering Committee of the Coalition on the International Criminal Court (CICC); Kabissa Web Projects Steering Committee; Nigerian Movement for Children (NMC); Member, National Technical Committee on CEDAW; Member, National Child's Rights Implementation Committee (NCRIC).
In her private time, she belongs to several professional, religious and service organisations in which she has held executive positions at various times. She has published works on human rights, women's rights, gender, democracy and governance.
