Update on the African Democracy Forum

The African Democracy Forum (ADF) is an African regional network of democracy, human rights, and governance organizations that seek to consolidate democracy in Africa by providing opportunities for democrats to openly express their views.  The ADF serves as a platform to build solidarity and exchange of resources among members, and supports membership empowerment.

Issued on 23 January 2009: The Africa Democracy Forum (ADF), a network of over 450 democracy and human rights organizations throughout Africa, expresses its deep concern about the political deadlock, the escalation of political violence against democracy and human rights activists, and the deteriorating economic, health, and humanitarian crises in Zimbabwe.

African Democracy Forum Calls on UN Human Rights Council for Special Session on DRC

I received this alert via the WMD's DemocracyNews newsletter of the World Movement for Democracy - www.wmd.org. Nearly 30 democracy and human rights organizations around the World, including the World Movement's  African Democracy Forum (ADF) issued a letter today to the UN Human Rights Council calling for a special session regarding the worsening human rights situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

ADF Issues Statement on Coup d’etat in Mauritania

The Africa Democracy Forum (ADF), a World Movement regional network of over 450 democracy and human rights organization throughout Africa, has issued a statement (below) condemning the coup d'etat in Mauritania.
