Making progress towards the Millenium Development Goals requires a human rights approach

‘We will make more progress if we take a human rights approach”, Mary Robinson, The Elders.

As the UN reports that only half of countries are on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Mary Robinson, Graça Machel, Gro Brundtland, Ela Bhatt and Martti Ahtisaari support the Every Human Has Rights campaign and call for freedom from poverty as a human right.

APC is looking for initiatives in the area of ICTs & Environmental Sustainability

The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is developing an action research network focused on ICTs & Environmental Sustainability. The initiative builds on work in this area that has been undertaken by APC and its member organisations in the last few years.

The objective of the action research network is to generate the research needed to create new tools and resources for a campaign that can transform the ICT for development community into leaders of an emerging movement of environmentally conscious ICT use.

Blog Action Day in Africa - Global Voices roundup

Read on for posts from Kenya, South Africa, Uganda and Ghana.

Kenya: Vision Africa on Blog Action Day 2009

It doesn't seem right to start a blog in the week of Blog Action Day then not write on that day...so here we are.

As a children's charity, you might wonder what we would be able to say about Climate Change. The point is, our organisation is about creating brighter futures for children and if we don't take action to reduce the impact of climate change, there might not even be a future for our children.

Blog Action Day is today!

I just got this email below from the organizers of Blog Action Day. Please join in, and crosspost also at Kabissa to take advantage of this day to amplify African voices on climate change and Africa.

More than 7000 bloggers have registered to participate and thousands more will join in the next 24 hours. There's already buzz growing across the blogosphere and on Twitter in anticipation, with updates from around the world every minute about the upcoming event.

Are you concerned about the impact of Climate Change in Africa? In your community? Join Blog Action Day!

Even if you've never "blogged" before, this is a unique opportunity for you to join the conversation and share the view from YOUR community. If you don't have a blog of your own, you can use Kabissa.

Below is a video worth watching that explains the background and importance of this campaign, as well as some details and hands-on tips on what you might blog about. Let me know if you have any questions or further suggestions to share with the Kabissa community.
