Rice in Cameroon: High price, low production!

2009 has witnessed an increase in the price of paddy rice in Ngoketunjia Division (North West Region of Cameroon) as compared to 2008. A bag of 100 kg paddy rice in 2008 was sold at 10,000 frs CFA, early this year 2009 a bag of 100kg is selling at 15 to 18,000 frs CFA.

The production of rice in the area keeps on reducing as farmers lack financial and technical assistance to increase the rice production within the Division.
