Wanted! A short compelling story script of a life experience which may have been much better where there is good leadership and good governance. It should be an exciting 10 minutes video!!

Dear friends and artists,
I'm developing a new project in collaboration with various international agencies and artists that blends the creative world with the humanitarian world around the issue of women/motherhood/maternal health.
I was very moved by this essay when it appeared in Developments Magazine earlier this year, and now am really glad to see a visually pleasing YouTube video of it that challenges us all to think about how Africa is represented in western media. (Via @mjamme)
I really enjoyed this video which cleverly puts the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to music, powerfully reminding us of basic ideas about our rights that we should already have internalized.
Justin Hartman has produced an interessting slide show showing the state of the African blogosphere. Some highlgihts:
The number of blog posts between 2007 and 2008 have nearly doubled.
Over 50% of blogs are of South African origin. They are followed by Kenya 8% and Nigeria 5%
The number of new blogs continues to grow eg they have doubled in number in just one month
A surprising number of people in the developing world still hide their money under a mattress at home. Accessible and developed banking systems are still in short supply and borrowing money at double digit monthly interests is prohibitive and discourages business. Microfinance is the bridge that empowers the underprivileged.
The sun - it rises every day so is therefore completely predictable; it is free; it is POWERFUL. Think of 10 ways in which you could change your community by tapping the Sun's power and ask yourself how difficult is it really to collect the Sun's rays and use them in your every day life.

This intensive and participatory training program will provide an immersive introduction in video advocacy for a group of 25-30 dedicated human rights advocates from across the globe working on some of the most challenging human rights issues facing our world today.
Specifically, the VAI is aimed at:
