Blog Action Day 2012: The Power of We

Blog Action Day - The Power of We

Update: Click here to see Live Coverage of Blog Action Day!

October 15th is Blog Action Day, the one day of the year where thousands of bloggers can work together to focus on one important global topic, and help raise awareness and money for charities and social causes. 2012 is the third year running that Kabissa has participated as a Blog Action Day network partner. We love this year's The Power Of We theme that resonates so powerfully with African cultural concepts such as uBuntu and Sticks in a Bundle Do not Break

As in years past, we enthusiastically encourage everyone blogging from and about Africa, on Kabissa and on your own blogs and websites, to join in and be a part of Blog Action Day. We will do our best to help spread the word about the issues and causes you write about via the Kabissa blog and social networks.

Read on to learn how Blog Action Day works, prepare for blogging on Kabissa, and get information about this year's The Power of We theme.

World Food Day

Today is World Food Day.

For some people food is something to be experimented with – creating mouth-watering dishes, entertaining friends, savouring flavours… For others food is a daily challenge, trying to scrape together enough money to buy something for the family to eat, knowing that they will never be satisfied.

The Worth of Five Cows

It's Blog Action Day 2011 and we're all here for the main course, that is, the discourse on food. It may come as no surprise that nutrition, poverty, and international development are all intricately linked, and many poignant words will be written on this very topic today. You'll probably read about gender and food distribution: when sustenance is scarce, girls are the last to receive their share. What may shock you is that beyond the unfair rations women are alotted in countries like Nepal and Malawi, the life of a girl is a measured commodity.

Hello Everyone!

Blog Action Day is here with us again and this time dealing with all matters FOOD.

Water and sanitation, practical pioneers - via the internet

October 15th is blog action day and the topic is water.

What could I say about water?  I live in the UK. I have normal hot and cold running water. I haven't even got a power shower, dishwasher or fancy garden water feature - just simple household running water - nothing remarkable - just ordinary water - drinking water. What is there to say?

Ordinary? Drinking water? Running water? Drinking water running to my house? That's ordinary? The running drinking water that I have... that is normal?

What are you going to write about WATER IN AFRICA for Blog Action Day?

Happy Blog Action Day everyone! The topic this year is WATER. Kabissa members are invited to blog about water in AFRICA. You can send in your posts via email to connect@groups.kabissa.org or post online to http://kabissa.org/group/connect (if you get a notification back you need to join the group).

Below are some great tips from the Blog Action Day team on what to write about on this important day for bringing the world together around the crucial issue of water.
