Server upgrade completed, antispam software updated, reminder to change your passwords!

As announced yesterday in a Kabissa Server Alert email, we upgraded our server memory this morning. So far the upgrade appears to have helped and we have not had any server issues today. We will continue to monitor the situation.

We
also succeeded in upgrading our spamassassin anti-spam software and
configured it to "drop" messages it identifies as spam. Previously it
merely marked the spam message, which had the dual negative effect of
burdening the server by trying to deliver
alot of spam and placing the onus on you members to manage the spam
using webmail or your own email program. We expect this configuration
change will also help to make the server
run more smoothly. (If you want to change the settings for your
mailboxes, see the 4psa SPAMGUARD option in the Plesk control panel)

And finally, I blogged today about an email horror story
that happened to a Kabissa member because a third party got their hands
on an email password and was downloading their mail. See the blog post
at http://www.kabissa.org and make sure you have a plan for everyone in your organization to change password periodically.

As always, please contact us at support@kabissa.org with any technical support questions or concerns regarding the Kabissa server.

In solidarity,

Tobias
