Dec 15 Update: to date, we have been informed of $1,740 in pledged donations from World Bank staff and retirees - this amounts to $3,480 when matched by the Community Connections Fund. If you work for the Bank and have not yet pledged to Kabissa or reported your pledge to us via our donation page, please do so now so that we can plan for your donation. Thank you for your support!

Please spread the word in your networks about a terrific opportunity for folks at the World Bank to help Kabissa reach its 2010 holiday fundraising goal of $20,000, and forward the link to this post directly to your friends and colleagues working at the World Bank. We are honored to have a tradition of participating in this terrific charity fund. Thanks! (Text below, with full instructions on participating, crossposted from the 1818 Society Website)

Launch of FY11 Community Connections Campaign

We are pleased to announce the launch of this year’s Community Connections Campaign. We are starting the Campaign today, Monday, November 1 and it will end Friday, December 31, 2010. Last year, Bank Group staff and retirees contributed over $1.4 million to the Campaign – the most raised by any Campaign to date and staff participation on EGive increased to over 48% last year, which meant that we met Management’s challenge to increase the corporate matching contribution from 50% to 100%. Our financial target for this year’s Campaign is again to raise $1.4 million. To help us reach our goal, Bank Group Management has again offered us a generous challenge. If we can reach at least 50% staff participation in the Campaign through the online EGive system, the Bank Group will increase its corporate matching contribution to 100%.

We should never underestimate the power of each Campaign contribution to support the remarkable work being done by our NGO partners to save lives, educate children and improve our communities. Our partners rely on the investments we choose to make in them. We ask today that you join us in that powerful feeling of making a difference with your donation today through EGive.

Please note that retiree contributions will receive the same match as staff contributions!!

Please make your check payable to “World Bank Community Connections Fund,” or simply “WBCCF,” for the total pledge dollar amount and send it to Kris Zedler by January 17, 2011 latest at the following address:
