The group Connect Pacific Northwest was launched on July 8, 2009. This group will help Kabissa to connect people in the Pacific Nothwest with initiatives in Africa, which are empowering Africans to make change. Look to this group to keep people in the Pacific Northwest abreast of what people at Kabissa are working on and what they can do to support us. You will be hearing more from me in the weeks and months ahead.

Hi - I wanted to stay in touch with this group for two reasons. First, I work for Wema, an org doing work in Moshi, Tanzania. Second, I am living in Portland, OR and doing work from here and Seattle. I would love to network with other organizations in the area!

Thanks for joining Kabissa PNW. We're glad you're here!
Wema sounds really interesting - your website at http://www.wematz.org looks great and the photos are compelling! I particularly like the way you describe your projects as community designed - your philosophy is very similar to our own:
Remember you have a direct URL at http://wema.kabissa.org which you can use to quickly find your organisation profile on Kabissa and share it. You can use Kabissa as another channel for outreach, not just by updating your profile but also by creating and regularly posting to blogs. We'll gladly help spread the word in our regular monthly newsletter (restarting soon) and other channels.
We are just starting up this PNW group and are looking forward to seeing what we can do with this little micro-community that is locally relevant while also connects us to and benefits the broader Kabissa network. Most of the other participants in the group thus far are based on Bainbridge Island, which you probably know already is near Seattle. I myself am currently based in Berlin but very connected to the Bainbridge team.
Please feel free to share your ideas, let us know what you are doing locally and if you have ideas for things you'd like to collaborate on with people locally as well as ideas for reaching out to more people and orgs in the PNW.
Best wishes,
Tobias
