Zack has arrived now in Ghana and the first photos are trickling in. It looks like he is finding his feet quickly and is enjoying himself! We are posting his photos on Flickr at http://flickr.com/kabissa - feel free to add your comments. The Kabissa Meetup in Kumasi later today is going to be great!
HI All,
It is two days until I arrive in Ghana and my excitement is mounting. I thought I would mention that I am in need of an assistant to help me with filming and taking photos on the day of the meetup. I just thought I would see if anyone was interested or knew of anyone who was interested.
Thanks Zack Tucker
Morocco is a country with a rich sense of tradition and community, this sense of community is reflected in the variety of non-profit organizations operating in Morocco, these organizations represent the best of Morocco in my opinion. During my time here I have had the opportunity to visit with several of them.
I met this past Thursday with Mourad Gourouhi, the executive director of Tanmia, and his wonderful team at their office in Rabat. This experience was my first on the African continent as I went directly there upon arriving and it was an extraordinary way to start the month or so I will spend on the African continent.

One of the great features of the new Kabissa site is the map of organisations in our database, accessible directly on the frontpage or full page at http://www.kabissa.org/map . It is an interactive map, so you can click anywhere on the map to zoom in to see organisations in a specific city or region before clicking on the organisation you want to learn more about.
This is the tool people visiting the site use to explore the Kabissa network and to find and get in touch with organisations they want to support, work with or learn more about.
Log in today to update your organisation contact details and make sure to specify the city, state/province and country so that you appear correctly on the map. While you are there, don't forget to verify your mission and description and other details so that you showcase your organisation in the best way possible!
The southern coast of Spain, where I am at present, is uniquely beautiful however just to the south of Cadiz, Spain lies the African Continent. This is a place that I feel people in Western Europe and North America still know relatively little about. I would consider that to be true for myself, there is much that I am yet to know about this place.
Zack Tucker Gagnes, the Seattle film student who is scheduled to film a Kabissa Meetup on Sept 23 in Kumasi, Ghana, is also visiting Morocco. We are very pleased about this development, since it means that through him we are able to catch up with organisations we worked with in Rabat and Marrakesh in 2005.
The meetup in Kumasi is approaching fast, and we are quite pleased with the progress we are making especially considering that this is the first we are organising using the new Kabissa platform. We selected the 11 organisations below to participate.. most come from Kumasi and environs, as well as a handful that have headquarters in Accra. I am intrigued at how many are "networks" or "clubs" or "associations" that appear to be organised specifically to bring people together around crucial issues.
It will be really interesting to connect them all up and to see what emerges in terms of new collaborations and knowledge sharing, all to be documented here on the Kabissa website and in Zack's documentary film.
Read on for the full list of participants and their organisations, and a copy of the email sent out to them.
It's not too late to participate - click here for the application form.
Hello all,
I am getting very excited for my journey to Morocco and Ghana. In preparation for filming I have developed a list of questions that I will ask at the meet up. I thought that it may be nice for those who are going to participate in the meetup to be able to see these questions in advance.
We are no longer accepting applications for this meetup. Thanks for your interest!
