Information Technology allows for a jump from the Third into the First worlds in one leap. It has a unique democratizing impact. Kabissa is successfully bringing this to Africa.African organizations, especially small ones at the grassroots providing vital community services and courageous advocacy on behalf of their people on crucial issues, struggle to take advantage of the Internet and associated technologies. Regular access to the Internet is hard to come by which leads to people working in organizations not being able to learn useful tech skills or come up with creative ideas for using tech in support of their mission.
Kabissa (our name means completely in kiswahili) is an online platform run by volunteers where people and organizations working in Africa maintain their own profile pages, participate in group blogs and learn about relevant tech tools and strategies.
The 1500 African organizations now in our network (and more that will join as we grow) will be strengthened through their improved presence on the Internet and capacity to use tech, which will be reflected in the quality and sustainability of their programs.
Kabissa has no employees and all work is done by volunteers or contractors. We depend on donations from individuals like you to cover our operating costs. Donations to Kabissa are tax deductible in the United States.
