The most recent Network for Good newsletter (below) gives 5 really good tips about end of year fundraising. The most interesting (and encouraging) one to me is #5:
Ask, ask, ask. No, really, ask three times! This year, send emails on December 27th, December 29th and December 31st. Most of the money you are going to raise online in December is going to come in that last week of the year. Making sure that you are at the top of people’s email inbox at during that time is going to be terribly, terribly important.
I also was glad to be reminded of #3:
What makes you proud? Take 30 seconds and write down the five things that make you proudest to be doing what you’re doing. Don’t over-think it – keep it simple. Tack that list up next to your computer until December 31st and send that list, with very little added, in an email as a way of telling your donors why you are inspired by what you do.
As always, feel free to share your tips/concerns/questions by reply email to this post. Cheers, Tobias

5 Things You Can Still Do for Year-End Giving
Feel like you are completely behind in your year-end appeals? Well, cheer up! The end of year fundraising party doesn’t really get started until after Christmas when the bulk of year-end money comes in. So if you are just getting started now, it’s not too late.
Strategically, you really only have two things to do between now and December 31:
You need to inspire your audience and make sure that you are asking for funds.

Landmark Onling Giving Study has Key Insights for Fundraisers
Last week, Network for Good released a landmark study of $381 million in giving through our platform, including 3.6 million gifts to 66,470 different nonprofits from 2003-2009.
Throughout the study, we included "Tips" to help you use these findings to improve your online fundraising results. For instance, did you know that 22% of all online donations are made in the last two days of the year? Email early in the morning on December 31 so you'll be near the top of inboxes.

Crowdrise Holiday Fundraiser Thing
Edward Norton and a slew of his famous friends are helping to make it ridiculously fun, a little bit competitive and slightly addictive for everyone to give to their favorite cause this holiday season: The Crowdrise Holiday Fundraiser Thing.
Anyone can join a celebrity's team or start their own team to raise money for just about any charity. There are great prizes for the top (non-celebrity) fundraisers and some lucky donors.
So if you're sending an email to your supporters before the holidays (which you should be), consider including a link to this campaign to encourage your supporters to take the next step after donating to your organization - becoming fundraisers for your cause by spreading the word to their friends!
