Mission Statement
Tanzania Mineworkers Development Organization/Haki Madini is a community based not for profit organization established and registered in 8 th January 2001 under Societies ordinance Act. It started operations in the late 1990s as an activism group for small scale mineworkers. Vision TMWDO/HAKI MADINI envisages a just, fair and transparent mineral resource use, control and management in Tanzania. Mission To strengthen the capacities of Artisanal/small scale miners and the local community to engage, participate and benefit from the mineral wealth as well as defend and promote basic human rights.
Objectives I-To promote artesian and small scale mining as an activity capable of poverty reduction. II-To advocate for participation and improvement of mineworkers and local communities in mineral wealth management. III-To engage in policy analysis, strategic advocacy and dissemination in issues concerning mineral, environment, land and other related natural resources. IV-To promote gender equality and protection of the rights of women mineworkers. V-To mainstream HIV/AIDS in all operations.
