Mission Statement

?جø¬?Making a difference in people?جø¬?s lives through programmes and projects aimed at restoring hope to those whose lives have been demeaned by virtue of birth, health, socio-economic background and environment and helping them to find fulfillment in life.?جø¬? In working to make a difference in people?جø¬?s lives, PHIN shall focus on Gender and Reproductive health of youths ?جø¬? both in-school and out-of?جø¬?school and women, through which PHIN hopes to impact on the society. Since Gender based violence and HIV/AIDS are two very important and interrelated problems in the Nigerian Society, as in many other parts of the developing world, these two areas shall form the core of the organization?جø¬?s Gender and Reproductive Health programme. While striving for a grassroots focus, PHIN shall vary its activities from time to time to reflect the prevailing National and International exigencies. PHIN?جø¬?s strategy shall include service delivery, advocacy, training, research, and networking and any such strategy that would help in providing holistic service to the target population

Description of Activities

PHIN is a charitable non-governmental Organization established to undertake programmes aimed at restoring hope to those whose lives have been demeaned by reason of circumstances of birth, health, socio-economic background and environment. OBJECTS: PHIN is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization established to carry out programmes and projects aimed at enhancing the Reproductive health of youths and Women in Nigeria, and to promote gender sensitivity at all levels of the society. In doing this, the organization shall pursue the following objects: Establish, promote and run programs on reproductive health, including family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention. Establish, promote and run programs on gender-based violence to promote gender sensitivity and empower victims or those at risk of Gender based violence. Establish, promote and run educational and awareness programs on harmful effects of gender-based violence and other socio-cultural practices which are harmful to reproductive health. Establish, promote and run counseling units for people with peculiar needs such as victims of Gender-based violence and people living with/or affected by HIV/AIDS. Establish, promote and run shelters for victims of Gender based violence such as battered wives/husbands and rape victims. Work with people with peculiar health needs to enhance their self-esteem and acceptability in the society. Collaborate and network with other organizations within and outside Nigeria for the enhancement of the Gender and Reproductive health of Nigerian women and Youths. Promote and encourage the enforcement of the rights victims of Gender-based violence and people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and people with other peculiar health needs. Endow and or establish programs aimed at educating or uplifting the living standards of such persons as defined by article 2 of this constitution. Contribute either in cash or kind to motherless babies homes and other institutions for the disabled. Establish as may appear necessary, offices in various parts of the country for the purposes of giving effect to these objects. Acquire from any person, by way of gift, purchase, exchange or lease whether absolutely or in trust, any property, real or personal, requisite or necessary to carry out its objects with power to hold or dispose of any such property. Solicit and use contributions from donors for the purposes of giving effect to these objects Negotiate and enter into agreement with individuals and governments, whether Federal, State or local governments, and other cooperate bodies with a view to enhancing its operations as well as procuring relevant or necessary concessions that will ensure the efficient management of the organization?جø¬?s resources to the benefit of Nigerians. Take all necessary legal actions for the furtherance of the aims and purposes of PHIN. Organize and operate Pro-Hope International exclusively for social, developmental, cultural, educational, charitable and humanitarian purposes and to conduct its activities in such a way and manner that will portray its non-political, non-partisan stance, and in such a way that will benefit not only its members, officers and Trustees. Generally to do such things which are incidental to the objects or which in the opinion of the Board of Trustees will be conducive for such persons as stated above
