Vision Africa - Give a Child a Future
Mission Statement
Vision Africa is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian aid organisation. Our aim is to put Christian love into action in a practical and compassionate way among children who are vulnerable and in desperate need having been orphaned, abandoned, neglected or living in extreme poverty. Working with children from newborn up to the age of 18 years, the objectives of our work may be summarised as:
- Provision - provide food, clothing, a safe environment, recreation facilities, quality water supplies to kitchens, toilets and washing facilities;
- Protection - ensure secure housing, safety, power for lighting for the children and to prevent sexual, physical and emotional exploitation of the children;
- Preparation - provide funds for fees and materials for primary school and secondary / tertiary education / vocational training for children as appropriate.
Description of Activities
Since its foundation in 2001, Vision Africa has established and supported projects including children's homes, feeding programmes, schools for children with special needs, an abandoned baby unit, vocational training centres and a football programme in the slums of Kibera. Our organisation has no paid employees in the UK and relies on volunteers to carry out all administration.
