Mission Statement

To bring all the youth within Kabete and its surrounding areas together,to mix freely and to share in their diverse feelings,beliefs,ideas and opinions on matters and issues affecting them economically ,socially and politically.

Description of Activities

Background A brainstorming event chaired by the Kenya Youth Political Caucus on the 24th of April 2002 resulted into a meeting being convened on the 10th of March 2002 which was a preamble to what is now Kabete Youth Club. A resolution was passed to disseminate information concerning this noble cause and a membership campaign saw the club developing a base and foundation. The Organization structure is based on the constitution that forms the basis for ethics and governance. The club is registered with the Ministry of Sports,Gender,Culture and Social services as a Community Based Organization. Our projects areas cover Education, Agriculture, Microfinance, Environment, Creativity, HIV/Aids, Sports and Networking. We as Youths feel the need to empower our communities in sustainable development and as an urgent need we felt it’s high time we liaise with organizations that can assist us in effecting youth oriented developments. Objectives -To provide a framework for developing strategies on how to address and handle challenges facing the youth e.g. AIDS, crime and unemployment. -To expose and engage the youths on economic activities like microfinance. -To unite the youths through sports and social activities like clean-up campaigns and AIDS awareness. -To build liaisons with other like minded youth groups from other areas and organizations e.g. NGOs and CBOs -To participate actively in political issues e.g. campaigns, voting and other issues affecting them politically. Vision To become a meaningful partner in assisting and advising the youths on various issues of development and capacity building. We also seek to move from a Community based group to a global oriented youth programme. Registration The club is registered with the Kenyan Ministry of Sports, Culture, Gender and Social as a Self Help Community Based Organization. Membership The Club is Youth led and draws membership from various sectors of our society. The club is also a gender sensitive organization which supports the Affirmative actions that empower our sisters.
