Wonderful new Kenyan website: iHaveNoTribe.com ... I am Kenyan!
A few weeks ago, Sokari and I posted the Kenyans: you are not alone entry to the Kabissa blog. Since then, I am struck by how all eyes around the world have been on Kenya since the flawed election. This new site, iHaveNoTribe.com, is yet another wonderful example of individuals taking matters into their own hands to counter the bad news and hopefully contribute to a wave of good will that will help put an end to the violence. It is attracting attention - I learned about it on National Public Radio's The World program (nice Drupal site!) this afternoon.
This is Web 2.0 for social change in action! The site is designed with beautiful "Web 2.0" graphics and functionality, and even has an RSS feed so you can keep up to date as comments, prayers and poems are contributed to the site from all over Africa and the world. Like this prayer posted by Fiona:
LET MY COUNTRY AWAKE
Where the mind is without fear, and the head held up high.
Where knowledge is free.
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls,
Where words come out from the depth of truth.
Where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection.
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit.
Where the mind is led forward by You into ever widening thought and action.
Into the haven of freedom , my Father, let my country awake
Prayer by Rabindranath Tagore.
