I just received notice of the next Drupal Convention coming up next month, and am curious to see if African developers are planning to attend or contribute. Drupal is the open source platform that powers the Kabissa community website, and DrupalCon is always a much heralded and powerful event. Follow on twitter at @drupalcon and @drupal. Details below.

Hello ! Join us April 19th - 21st for the largest Drupal event to date: DrupalCon San Francisco. This premier conference attracts the most talented open-source developers and innovative web shops from around the world. Drupal is growing rapidly, with the visibility of whitehouse.gov launching on Drupal, the increasing number of business and enterprise solutions on the platform, and the growing buzz around Drupal 7. Visit http://sf2010.drupal.org for more information, and register soon, before tickets sell out!

DrupalCon offers a week full of keynotes, training, code sprints, networking opportunities, parties and talks. Over 400 sessions have been proposed: http://sf2010.drupal.org/conference/sessions. The final schedule with over 120 sessions will be posted on March 15th, 2010. To meet the needs of many different backgrounds and interests, the conference offers programming along six tracks:

  • Welcome to Drupal: Watch overviews and tutorials for those new to the community.
  • Leveraging Drupal for Your Business: Hear case studies and learn about adapting to open-source technology.
  • Configuration, Set-up & Administration: Manage Drupal through the User Interface.
  • Design, Theme, and Usability: Learn about trends, techniques, and tools.
  • Under the Hood: Study servers, Drupal core, module building, and more.
  • Providing Professional Drupal Services: Share how to design, theme, develop, host, train, manage and take your Drupal business to the next level.

You will meet and learn from Drupal community leaders, top developers, your favorite module maintainers, dojo trainers, members of the Drupal Association, potential business partners, and future employees. DrupalCon will also include a Core Developer Summit, an Unconference, and Code and Documentation Sprints. View the conference page for details on these and other extra events. Conference tickets are currently available for $195, but the price will go up to $220 on March 26th, so get your ticket now!

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, please visit http://sf2010.drupal.org/sponsors/signup for more information. Register, get involved, and start planning your trip to DrupalCon San Francisco!
