Hello!
You may know me already - I am Tobias Eigen, the Founder and Executive Director of Kabissa. I am also currently the maintainer of three Kabissa Groups - Connect, ICT Peer Learning and ICT Trainers.
I just approved a large backlog of requests from new members (wow, we are now 542 people in the ICT Peer Learning group!) and wanted to make sure that everyone here knows what to expect from ICT Peer Learning and that you are not surprised when you start receiving messages from fellow ICT Peer Learning group members. If you feel you are getting too much mail, look for the links at the bottom of the messages to turn off subscriptions for specific threads or to manage your group settings.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to invite you to join and participate in all three of the groups I maintain:
- The Connect group is effectively the Kabissa community blog, which members have been using as a niche network to reach out to likeminded people and organizations working in Africa. Post your organization's news, progress updates and requests for partnership and support in this group (online at http://kabissa.org/group/connect and post by email to connect@groups.kabissa.org).
- The ICT Peer Learning group is the place to post your questions, tips or insights about technology (online at http://kabissa.org/group/peerlearning and post by email to peerlearning@groups.kabissa.org).
- The ICT Trainers group is a space for people involved in or interested in tech training in Africa to share their insights and news (online at http://kabissa.org/group/trainers and post by email to trainers@groups.kabissa.org).
And finally, please stay tuned for news about changes coming to the Kabissa platform. We are working on an upgrade to the design and user interfaces to reflect the way people are actually using the site to showcase their organizations and connect for peer learning and information sharing. The main change affecting groups, which we think you will appreciate, is that we are setting up a fully fledged community blog that you can participate in to share updates and insights about what you are doing in your community in Africa - content posted to the blog will be promoted to the frontpage and shared in our newsletters. Meanwhile, group features will be streamlined to function more as you would expect from email discussion groups (like Yahoo Groups).
As always, don't hesitate to get in touch with your questions or feedback about Kabissa. Thank you!
Sincerely yours,
Tobias
