Dear All, Since this morning my USB Key refuses to work, normally a red light is on for telling that it is working.

The light is not there anymore on my transcend USB Key.

When I plug the USB in my laptop, on the my computer explorer I can see removab le disk E, when I remove the USB removable disk E is gone. Before when I plugged in the USB it opened in G.

What can I do, how can I recover all my data?

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your USB key - that certainly is unlucky! I hope you have been keeping backups of the data so you are not too inconvenienced. 

Without particular USB knowledge but with troubleshooting knowledge, let me give you some more things to try:

  • reboot your PC wihtout the key in it, and then insert it after it has loaded up - and see if it then works
  • if you have other USB ports, try putting it in another USB port
  • as Sokari suggests, try it in another computer and see if it works
  • examine the key itself for cracks or loose connections - perhaps you can wiggle the connection so it works
  • check for a "lock" on the key - some of them have this to prevent them from being used or written over
