Many people ask us all the time about Drupal, the platform used to develop Kabissa 2.0.
Our friends at Lullabot have announced The Lullabot Learning Series available on DVD. I have not yet seen the DVD but the short trailer video on their website is very useful in explaining quickly some of the most important benefits of Drupal. Some of the simplest reasons discussed in the trailer are that Drupal empowers website visitors through interactive features and turns them into participants, provides easy ways to give permission people to add content through a web interface, and is freely available open source software (downloadable for free at http://www.drupal.org).
Still, despite all these benefits it can be a bit tricky to understand Drupal enough to create a website with it - words like node, block, taxonomy, etc are very jargony and confusing! Nevertheless for an organization seeking to make powerful use of a website for advocacy or online community building it can be well worth the trouble to figure it out.
One way to start learning about Drupal is to explore sites built using Drupal such as Kabissa 2.0 or telecentre.org. I love the fact that when you know one Drupal site, you recognize features that then empower you on other Drupal sites you join.
