Setting up the Kabissa blog aggregator
Hi Sokari -
A potentially fun project for you to work on is the
Kabissa RSS feed aggregator, which I set up a few weeks ago as part of
the installation of a new module that greatly improves on our email
notifications system. Click here to read the blog post here about that. We can basically set up a set of really good
relevant feeds, organized by category, and then make these available
for browsing on the site in a "page flakes" sort of way and for subscription by email.
See http://www.kabissa.org/admin/content/aggregator/ for the system for adding/managing feeds - and the categories that I have set up already.
The default public facing URL for aggregator feeds is here: http://www.kabissa.org/aggregator/categories
See your user settings to see how the subscription system works.
It's still in beta so there are some bugs, but it's already quite
useful. You can subscribe to Kabissa tags, and also add in more
keywords that you want to track for notifications in the RSS feeds.
It would be neat if you could spend some time thinking about the
categories, and then adding feeds. I don't think we want to go
overboard and have too many feeds - maybe max 5 categories with about
10 feeds per category.
Let me know what you think, and let's discuss categories and feeds to add in this blog post.
Cheers,
Tobias
