The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) was launched in 2008 at the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra. Its purpose is to publish standardised data on development aid, so that citizens, parliamentarians, NGOs and other stakeholders can hold donors and recipient organisations to account and monitor the provision of services.
In the past two years IATI has been working on a catalogue of data standards and on the establishment of a registry for donor data (much like the yellow pages for donor funding). Currently the final round of online consultations is open for comments. Issues of this consultation round are donor documents, aligning donor support to national budgets, detailed information on activities and on results.
Please check it out and make sure donors publish the information that is necessary to civil society stakeholders in Africa and elsewhere!!
It may be that a consultation on data standards is not the most exciting thing you could imagine, but it is access to relevant information that will help us improve development cooperation and make sure that donors and recipient organisation deliver the services they promise!

Dear Salih,
Thanks for your message and the support!
OpenAid is a tiny civil society organisation with a lot of work and not budget ;)
Maybe you want to share with me a bit more about who you are and what your are doing.
We cannot employ people, since we are unpaid ourselves. But we are happy to look for partners and to extend our message.
You could always create an aid transparency organisation yourself!
You could have a look at http://aidmonitor.org.np/
It is a civil society organisation that is aiming to monitor aid activities in Nepal.
You may also check out Friends of Transparency and Accountability in Tanzania - on Facebook

Is there a chapter of Transparency International in Nigeria?
Please feel free to also join us on Facebook and share with your friends!
Happy to stay in contact!
