Mobile Phone Game in Support of Gorillas & the DRC Crisis

Protecting the Silverback mountain Gorillas of Congo has reached a critical stage as more and more of them are being killed. The gorillas, which are an endangered spieces live in family communities led by a "chief" male of up to 30 members. Presently it is estimated that there are about 71 gorillas left in the Virunga National Park.

Ken Banks of Kiwanja.net has been involved with creating a game for mobile phones to raise money for conservation of the gorillas, the environment and people displaced due to the continued conflict and poaching of the gorillas.

Troubles continue today, with people being displaced, human suffering increasing, and unbearable pressure being put on the local environment, an area which also happens to be the last refuge for the majority of the remaining mountain gorilla population.

"Silverback" is a mobile phone-based game with eight levels to help people learn about the gorillas. It is the first game used to promote conservation of wildlife. The game can be downloaded from the Silverback site and you can also send in a donation for the gorillas and the local communities surrounding their habitat.
