The political climate in Nigeria has left no one in doubt that Nigerians want nothing but credible elections come 2011. The political class has geared up for political challenge to clinch power at all level of governance.
We have all witnessed the past and are poised to witness the future. While Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations used their personal resources to ensure stable society and good governance, some members of the political class were busy cornering public wealth for their personal interests.
Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and Nigerians should not be discriminated in the distribution of the Nation's wealth. No democratic government can survive without the contribution and participation of Civil Society and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Since the inception of democratic governance in 1999, the body CSOs and NGOs have contributed immensely to the present stability of governance in Nigeria.
Towards this, the Civil Society Coalition on Disaster Risk Reduction, a body of over 100 registered NGOs and CSO wish to call on all CSOs and NGOs to please rally round its members and join hands in the making of a good and better Nigeria come 2011.
This is in addition to a post call for NGOs and CSOs to join in the electoral process to which some bodies had responded to.
To ensure full participation of CSOs, NGOs and FBOs in the electoral process, it has become exigent that we all assemble at the eagle square Abuja on the 14th of October 2010 to address the nation and the international community on the demands by the people of Nigeria for a government that will ensure fair and equal distribution of national resources that will eliminate unemployment, safety of road users, poverty, homelesness, quality education, free medical facility in public hospitals, uninterrupted electricity, honest and credible leaders, free and fair elections.
All CSOs, NGOs and FBOs outside Abuja are requested to apply to their local or state government for sponsorship to attend the National address.
Please copy and attach to your letter for sponsorship.
It is mandatory that requests for sponsorship be approved by State or local government as this is National issue.
This is not a sponsored agenda or political affiliation but a National interest which has no political leaning.

Hi Prince,
Thanks for sharing this appeal.
Do you have a facebook group, blog or website going for the "Civil Society Coalition on Disaster Risk Reduction" you describe in your post? Would be a useful way to streamline your call to action rather than requesting people to simply contact you by phone.
I googled the name of the organization and came across many similar calls for membership, including this one on the development report website:
Cheers,
Tobias
