A comprehensive review of the Kabissa database of organizations is long overdue, especially with an upgrade in the works to make organization profiles even more useful for finding and connecting with African civil society. To this end we are organizing a "work party" this coming Saturday, 4 February and we'd love to have as many people pitching in as possible, both remotely via the Internet and face to face on Bainbridge Island at OfficeXpats, a coworking and meeting space.

If you are able to help even just for an hour or two, please let me know as soon as possible (email me or send tweet to @tobiaseigen). Thanks! It should be fun, interesting and rewarding work. 

Work Party Goals:

  • Flag organizations with outdated or inaccurate information for follow-up by Kabissa volunteers
  • Fix typos and formatting in organization name, mission statement and description
  • Update web addresses and correct contact information for each organization 
  • For each organization, note official RSS Feed, links to Global Giving, WiserEarth, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr

Thanks everyone who has gotten in touch so far to help out on the database review work party on Saturday, both in person on Bainbridge Island and remotely via the Internet! I am really looking forward to being online with so many people at the same time!

The more the merrier, so if you have a few hours to contribute please get in touch! I really appreciate it. 

All it takes is some spreadsheet and Internet sharing skills. We are working in Google Docs.

THANK YOU SO MUCH everyone who did such great work on Saturday - take a look at the stats below to see who's now in the lead, you may be surprised! :) I can't wait to launch the new organization profiles with all the updated information, and with a truer picture of the Kabissa community and the organizations that are actively participating and benefitting. 

We still have far to go so please let me know if you are able to continue working or if you want to get involved and need instructions on getting into the work. It's easy to do and interesting, but time consuming to go through all the organizations so we need all the help we can get. Even a few hours here and there will make the difference.  

Today I am offline most of the day, unfortunately, but the skype chat window remains open and I will monitor it via my smartphone. I am happy to answer questions or talk voice with anyone who needs help.
