I was pleased to receive word of the Digital Media and Learning Competition from my friend Beth Kanter for Nigerians and South Africans (among other places) working on exploiting "new digital media" for sharing ideas. They must have somebody in particular in mind in those two countries, the only two in Africa, and I'd be interested in finding out who applies from there. They seem to be casting a wide net otherwise: 

Participatory learning is defined broadly: using new digital media for sharing ideas or planning, designing, implementing, or just discussing ideas and goals together.

In my mind the new digital media includes blogs like this one and online resources that are developed collaboratively, like the Time To Get Online wiki.
