Why would you be interested in building a blog site ? Well if you are reading this, you already are !! A blog is a contraction of the term weblog which means a type of website, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
There are several different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content, but also in the way that content is delivered or written. There are personal blogs, corporate blogs for marketing, branding or public relations purposes , question blogs even exist for the purpose of answering questions (of course !), some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), etc, etc which are part of a wider network of social media.

The Global Hitchhikers is an online club for hobos and compulsive travelers. The purpose of the club web site is to enable members keep an online blog of their travels, and which will be a means of advising other club members on their own travels. In their blog, club members will describe the places where they've been; including the sleeping and eating facilities and also the disposition of the natives. Users can also upload photos. Global Hitchhikers Club web site will have the following distinguishing features: 1. Members will be able to create their own profile page which will be visible to other members.
2. Members will be able to create posts categorized by the continent location and to upload photos into these blogs.
3. Latest posts will automatically be promoted to the front page.
4. Site users will be able to comment on these posts.
5. Links will be available to show page views of posts categorized by continent.
