NABUUR is happy to announce that the intake process for new local villages is now open to all! If you are a local representative or a member of a community in a developing country, or know someone who can benefit from having their own village on NABUUR, please read the following information to find out how to register your village in a few easy steps.
NABUUR is the old Dutch word for Neighbour. NABUUR.com is the free Global Neighbour Network. Neighbours are here to assist each other by sharing their knowledge, contacts, creativity and time using the internet.
If you have a plan for improvement for the people in your community, you might benefit from the assistance of Neighbours.
The Village
Communities or community-based organizations situated in a specific settlement in a developing country can register. NABUUR.com cannot accept registrations which aim to benefit individuals or private initiatives.
The improvements you suggest have to represent the interests of an organised group of people, such as a village council, self-help group, community based organisation (CBO), association, sports foundation, church, school, hospital, social centre, co-operative or similar.?
The improvements have to improve the living conditions of said community.
The community should have appointed you as their representative who is entitled to speak on behalf of the community.
You as the local representative
- Have basic computer skills and access to the internet at least three times a week
- Follow a short online training after registration with NABUUR.
- Participate actively in the online discussions with your Neighbours.
- Write a short news message about your community every week.
- Have a back-up to replace you whenever you are absent.
Note: NABUUR.com will not provide you or your community with financial support, nor include questions directly aiming at fundraising.
