After going through the economic crisis, I believe every Zimbabwean does not need a lesson on shortages. We had a first hand experience on what it means to walk through empty shelves and spend long hours in queues for simple things such as bread, sugar to fuel. People travelled unimaginable distances just to do grocery shopping. I have gone to every neighboring country (Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique & Zambia) to buy groceries, so I know what it means. We learnt that things are not always enough for everybody and if you miss today you never know where you will get it tomorrow. We became experts in buying in bulk and hoarding. Unfortunately, some of us have carried the lesson and experiences too far and we even think there is shortage of opportunities and ideas. We struggle with this notion that the cake is not enough for everyone! Is it? (adapted from a blog entry on Scarcity vs Abundance mentality available on Paruware website)
