As people awaits the dividends of democracy in Nigeria with Edo state on focus. In the past couple of months different manifestation not ordinarily expectef were seen. The seat of the governor witnessed a change in the month of November 2008, just about two weeks ago the only woman in the Edo state house of assembly in the person of Hon. Chief Mrs Elizabeth Ativie was removed by the court. Her removal came as shock to many people. If we are talking about a generation of women empowerment, why should the only woman in the house be sent packing? Does that mean our politics is not gender sensitive? It could be termed as rule of law in action. If the rule of law is fair, why should some suffer more than the others. We are suppose to get to a stage where there is no fear or favour; it sound always amazing when the healthy dies while the sick still keep on living...there should be a mystery behind this which we cannot readily explain. It shows that there is more to what meet the ordinary eyes. Hon Ativie propbably has been made a sacrificial lamb but for who? We cannot give up democracy at this stage.....GENDER SENSITIVE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED. Share this
