Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative is among road safety focused Non government organization based in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory Nigeria whose activities include advocating for improved safety facilities on our roads and effective enforcement of road safety regulation.

Africa is among developing countries with high road traffic fatalities, lacking Government political will to tackle incidences of road traffic accidents, injuries and deaths. The current Democratic dispensation operating in various African countries has made it possible for Civil Society and Non-Governmental Organizations to thrive in their assigned objectives. The level of committment of these organization to National Development cannot be quantified. They have made concerted efforts to meet the demand of the less previleged in the society, engaged Government in the quest for good governance, introducing fundamental issues of poverty alleviation and much more, but in most cases they are the most neglected by the people they seek to serve, including  Governments.

It is obvious that most NGOs and CSOs do not operate with government financial support but rely solely on personal contributions to meet their social obligations to the society. Some are exposed to International grants but majority who are desirous to impact lack personal funding to be sustained or access to donor grant to achieve their aims and objectives to the society.

However, it has been observed that CSOs and NGOs must be in collaboration to achieve a strong and united voice as a medium under which their aims and obejectives can be articulated and achieved. This is the subject of this call.

Further to the above, it is intended to establish a platform towards which African CSOs and NGOs as a coalition could share information,  achieve ease of communication and establishing development strategies. We are therefore calling on Civil Society and Non Governmental Organizations within the continent of Africa that are focused in ROAD SAFETY efforts to subsribe to the proposal for the establishment of a common platform for road safety NGOs and CSOs to be called "COALITION OF AFRICAN CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS ON ROAD SAFETY". The organizations subcribing to the coalition must be registered in their respective countries. Interested registered NGOs and CSOs can forward their names, contact person, telephone numbers, secretariat address, email and website (if any) Modalities for the establishment of the coalition will be discused by accreditied representatives of the respective organizations at a time and place to be agreed. Prince Fidelis Nnadi is the Executive Director, Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative and will be coordinating.
