Welcome to our Cyber Seminar on the Crisis in DR Congo today, Thursday the 6th of November!
What are the reasons behind the continuing conflict in Eastern Congo?
Almost 5 million people have died in te conflict in the Congo (DRC) in
the last 10 years. Despite a peace treaty signed in 2003, the people of the
Congo have seen no peace. Join the Cyber Seminar today, Thursday the 6
th of November as we discuss
The Cyber Seminar is a virtual seminar – a forum for participants all over the world to engage with each other and with panelists from academia, politics and civil society on issues of current interest to Africa
For the upcoming session, the topic is the reasons behind the conflict in the DR Congo. Despite attempts to mediate, the conflict goes on. Why is there no peace? What are the reasons behind the horror stories? Is this an ethnic conflict or is it simply a greedy scramble for Congo's rich natural resources? What is the role of the government of Rwanda in this conflict? To what extent can the war in Eastern Congo be seen as a result of, or a further development of, the genocide in Rwanda in 1994?
Participate in the Cyber Seminar organized by the Norwegian Council for
Africa this Thursday and engage with Congo experts and other participants on
the future of Congo Zaire DRC.
