I just went through and made another round of improvements to the Kabissa Connections project idea I submitted to Netsquared to Build Reputation and Trust of Organizations By Revealing Relationships Online. I'm feeling quite good about it and am very excited about the possibilities for Kabissa to serve the African civil society sector in a new way. I'd like to make this proposal the best it can be, so would be grateful to have input and support from Kabissa members.
You can read the proposal here: http://netsquared.org/node/61069
Voting begins on Monday, October 11th. If we are among the 5 top projects, we will get significant support towards actually implementing the project - which would be quite exciting news for the Kabissa community indeed.
In particular, please take a hard look at my argument why this platform is needed and organizations shouldn't just use Facebook. Also, if you know of similar initiatives already or potential partnerships that could make my case stronger, please let me know.
And of course, if you are interested in helping out or partnering with Kabissa on this project, please let me know.
I'd welcome comments to the project!
Kabissa Connections will address trust concerns by providing a platform revealing the connections that organizations have with networks, international organizations, supporters and service providers. We will do this for organizations working in Africa while collaborating with others on open source tools, standards and approaches that can be replicated in other regions.
Cheers,
Tobias
PS - and because it's Friday, let me also share this not-so-off-topic cartoon with you:
