Welcome to Kabissa 2.0!
Social Networking for African Organizations
We have been dropping hints about "Kabissa 2.0" for a year now, and now finally we are able to share the fruits of our labors. We hope you like what you see!
Feel free to explore the new site, which is still very much undergoing testing. It is designed to empower African organizations and their allies to SHOWCASE, CONNECT and LEARN. This is all about creating horizontal linkages among organizations that might otherwise have been impossible, on the local, city, national and regional levels. It is about knowing how best to use the Internet and related communications tools in pursuit of an organizational mission.
Kabissa 2.0 is a community effort
Please help us to get the site ready to launch as soon as possible by reporting problems and giving us your candid feedback. If you are interested in being more closely involved in the development of the new site as a volunteer or advisor, you are invited to join the Kabissa Web Group.
Acknowledgements
This site owes its existence to our members, who continually push and inspire us, and the contributions of many people and collaborating organizations. We would like to particularly express our appreciation for:
- the contributions throughout of the Kabissa Web Projects Steering Committee
- our dedicated Kabissa interns and staff;
- Mark Root-Wiley, who came up with the design of the new site and worked very hard on making it all fit together;
- longtime volunteer and friend Greg Schnippel, who ingeniously handled the migration of our member database into our new system;
- the collaboration of Open Lab on the specifications development phase;
- the CiviCRM team on patiently customizing and troubleshooting our CiviCRM implementation;
- Aspiration, for generously providing space for Kabissa, Open Lab and CiviCRM to meet in San Francisco last fall;
- and not least the support and patience of the Ford Foundation and the OSI Information Program for funding the Kabissa Web projects in the first place.
The site was created using freely distributable open source software known as Drupal and CiviCRM.
