Planned Server downtime: Early morning Tuesday, 16 January 2007
As previously announced, Kabissa is undertaking a number of important software upgrades and server configuration changes on our server this week.
Early in the morning, 2am GMT, on Tuesday, January 16th, all services including websites and email will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes. Email will be delivered when the server comes back up again.
As always, please let us know if you notice anything unusual or have have any questions or concerns regarding this upgrade by writing to support. We will keep you posted on our progress.
Technical details: the Kabissa server operates on a "flavor" of Linux known as Redhat 7.2. On Monday, we will be upgrading the kernel to the latest version and also upgrading the Apache web server software to the latest version. During the course of this week we already upgraded many other programs and disabled quite a few that we were not using. Another task we carried out was to turn off SSL (https) web access on our server for domains that were not using them. This week's upgrades all were completed successfully and without server interruptions. All of these tasks will help to enable the server to operate more efficiently.
