African Democracy Forum

March 2006 Launch of African Democracy Forum Online Community WebsiteThe African Democracy Forum (ADF), launched in Abuja, Nigeria, in October 2000, is an African regional network of democracy, human rights, and governance organizations. The ADF seeks to consolidate democracy in Africa by providing opportunities for democrats to openly express their views while also acting as a platform for mutual support and the sharing of resources. Last week, to coincide with a meeting of the ADF at the World Movement for Democracy fourth assembly in Istanbul, the ADF launched a newly redesigned and upgraded Website, which includes a range of great tools ADF members can begin using immediately. The new Web site at http://www.africandemocracyforum.org is the culmination of two years of collaboration between the ADF and Kabissa.

One important channel for ADF members is the AfricaDemocracy E-mail Network, which has since 2001 served as a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and strategies, while sharing and disseminating resources related to the promotion of democracy in Africa. The e-Network also enables African democrats to call on each other for solidarity and support, practical aid, and opinions in times of crisis.

Last week, to coincide with a meeting of the ADF at the World Movement for Democracy fourth assembly in Istanbul, the ADF launched a newly redesigned and upgraded Website, which includes a range of great tools ADF members can begin using immediately. In particular, there are new interfaces for ADF members to directly post news and alerts on the web, promote their organizations through an online profile page they themselves control, and of course access the AfricaDemocracy e-Network.
